History

AMS was found to provide network integration services in Korea in 1997. A year later, we changed our name to Global Telecom Co., Ltd. with a vision to become a global IT solution provider in the telecommunication and media sectors, and began to expand our range of products. In our first major projects, we were appointed by Korea Telecom, Korea’s largest telecommunications service provider to set up its lab network equipment and infrastructure for its R&D centres, and Chollian, Korea’s premier Internet Service Provider, to build a backbone network.

Subsequently, we continued to expand our business in the provision of Local Area Network and Metropolitan Area Network services by entering into a series of distributorship and reseller agreements with established international technology partners such as Extreme, Foundry, SysKonnect, and Samsung Electronics to market their products into our customer base. By the end of 2001, our customers included major ISPs in Korea such as Korea Telecom, Chollian and Hanaro Telecom.

We developed our first network management system software, “GT View” in 2002. This marked our new business segment of AMS Software and Services (A.SW). Subsequently, we have registered our copyright and trademark for GT View with the Korean Intellectual Property Office and made our first entry into the market by providing our GT View to LG Powercom Inc., a cable TV operator.

Riding on the success of GT View, we developed CatchFlow, a network traffic analysing solution tool that enables the user to analyse on network traffic and increase network management and efficiency. With GT View, CatchFlow and our technology partners’ products, we commenced larger projects with Korea Telecom and SK Telecom.

Around the same time, we began to tap large financial and securities institutions, provincial and governmental sectors and university market segments. In 2004, as a result of the successful trials of our products and services, we were awarded multi-million dollars contracts with provincial and government agencies and universities.

In 2003, we acquired ”Digital Cable Modem” technology (under patent number 0411405) and “Data Communication Device” technology (under patent number 0465307). Combining these two technology and our own GTView software, we have developed them into a complete solution offering called AMS Coaxial LAN, which is designed to provide broadband access services by using existing cable television networks to schools and universities such as Yonsei University and the University of Suwon in Korea.

In 2005, as a recognition to our own research and development capability, our company was approved as an Affiliated R&D Institute by the Korea Industrial Technology Association.

In addition, as a testimony to our technology innovation, we obtained our Certificate for Technological Innovation for a Small and Medium Company and obtained “Inno-Biz” status in the same year.

In early 2006, recognising the trend towards digital media services, we launched a new business initiative, our AMS Digital Media Solutions (A.DM) to address this new market, by releasing an integrated solution comprising of software and hardware products from our technology partners such as, Terayon, Tandberg, and Skystream of the USA. We have delivered and successfully installed a digital media system for SK Telecom group, which is fast expanding into other Asia geography including China, Vietnam, and Thailand.

By 2006, leveraging on our Korean customers’ geographical expansion trends and tapping on opportunities in growing markets across Asia, we have expanded our operations overseas by acquiring ICTs (Hong Kong) Limited, ePro Computer Systems (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd and Lotus Networks Technologies Joint Stock Company. These companies have changed their names into AMS HK, AMS China and AMS Vietnam respectively.

AMS HK was incorporated in 2003 as an investment holding company for China operations. AMS China is a provider of hardware and software solution to build data centres for various departments of the Guangzhou government in China since 2000. As data centres are migrating to digital media centres in the near future, we foresee that AMS China would contribute substantially in our expansion plans in China.

We value AMS China management team who has an average of over 15 years in the industry. AMS China was awarded various awards and accreditation including “China’s Top 100 Enterprise with Most Competitive Potential and Advanced Technology” in 2004.

AMS Vietnam was established in 2005, which currently provides network equipment, software and network integration services to telecommunication service providers, multinational corporations and local government agencies in Vietnam.

We value AMS Vietnam management’s experiences and track records in the network integration services where we see potential contribution to the Group’s present infrastructure network systems and digital media systems business expansion in the near future.

At the completion of our acquisitions, majority of revenue of AMS China and AMS Vietnam have been derived from A.IN and A.SW business segments. In 2007, these subsidiaries have begun exploring A.DM business.

We believe these strategic acquisitions will fasten our expansion plans as described above.
